How to Ship a Tesla Model Y

When transporting your Tesla Model Y, you will need to activate “Transport Mode” on your vehicle. While in Transport Mode, the parking brake is disengaged while winching the car onto the flatbed truck. Furthermore, this will ensure the vehicle remains free-rolling. In order to activate this mode, you must use low voltage power, and you will be unable to use the touchscreen to activate this mode if it has no power. The Model Y must detect a key, otherwise it will not switch into Transport Mode. Here are the following steps to activate Transport Mode:

1. Put the vehicle in park
2. Chock the tires or make sure the Model Y is secure
3. Press and hold the brake pedal, then turn to the touch screen and go: Controls > Service > Towing
4. Press and hold the Transport Mode button until it turns blue
5. After completing these steps, the Model Y is now free-rolling and can now be slowly rolled or winched.
6. To cancel Transport Mode simply shift the vehicle into Park.

Teslas are perfectly capable of being transported on a flatbed as all wheels will be off the ground.

1. Locate the tow eye – which is located within the front trunk
2. Release the front tow eye cover by pressing on its top right perimeter until it pivots inward, then pulling the raised section toward you.
3. Fully insert the tow eye into the opening, then turn it counterclockwise until it is fastened.
4. You may then attach the winch cable to the tow eye
5. After attaching the winch, you are then able to activate Transport Mode
6. Once activated, you may then slowly pull the Model Y onto the flatbed.

1. The tires must be secured using the eight-point tie-down method
2. Ensure there are no metal parts on the tie-down straps are on the painted surfaces or the face of the wheels
3. Do not place tie-down straps over the body panes or through the wheels.
